25 Acres of natural beauty . . .
The Muddy Rudder sits on the banks of the Cousins River and a wild life preserve. Guests look over our 25 acres and often see deer, heron, seagulls and an occasional seal.
The fall foliage is so vibrant that photo opportunities are a must.
You might become entranced watching the ice flow out to sea in the winter, especially under the lights at night.

Building Design
The exterior renovation of the Muddy Rudder in the late nineties, matched the design with the quality of the dining experience. The design was meant to emulate the shingled, cottage style homes found on the Maine coast in the early 1900’s.
Weathervanes atop cupolas add to the seafaring feel for this landmark restaurant.
Expansive windows overlooking the delicious view add to the uniqueness of this one of a kind Maine restaurant.
The banks of the Cousins River divide Yarmouth and Freeport, so we can’t get any closer to Freeport without being in it, and Freeport is Maine’s number one Tourist destination.
Anchored by LL Bean, Freeport has grown to include over 120 factory outlets. Freeport is unlike other outlet areas, in that it’s a village with historic buildings housing name brand stores like Ralph Lauren Polo, Gap, Banana Republic.
Of course no trip to Maine is complete without stopping at LL Bean.
More than Shopping
Freeport has two state parks with gorgeous views of Casco Bay and its wildlife.
There are numerous cruises in and around the area.
Museums, professional sports teams, theaters and more shopping are just 15 minutes away in nearby Portland or Brunswick.
Check out the links on our Freeport Inn website, for more to do.
